The purpose of cover dreams

I never put 2 and two together until just today. I had a cover dream a couple of years ago, the only one I remember having. I was surrounded by three wolves. Wolves are typical in cover dreams people report. One was sitting on my right, holding my right hand in his mouth. A second one had his jaw over my groin, and there was a third one I saw jump up behind me. I couldn't see him, but I knew he was sitting just behind me. I sat there looking at the two in front of me wondering what I should do. They weren't biting me, and I was wondering if I should try to pull my hand out of the mouth of the one. I thought if I did that, the two of them might start biting. I didn't know what to do. It seemed like a no win situation, and I wasn't going to beat them if they wanted to take it up a notch.

I woke up from that dream before I made a decision, into another dream. I was laying in bed, or at least what I thought was my bed. I could feel somebody holding my right hand. When I wake up during theses things I'm always exhausted, drained, and groggy, like I'm drugged or something. I never opened my eyes. I usually never do. Just a couple of seconds went by and I heard a woman's voice say, "it's not working on him," or "that's not working on him." From the sound of her voice she was standing up at the foot of the bed. I never put it together up until just today. The thing that was not working on me was the cover dream. I think they give us the cover dream when we start to stir and wake up. I think they try to convince us we're just having a dream, go back to sleep. That time I didn't, I woke up. That's why the woman's voice said, "it's not working on him." Obviously it doesn't always work.

Just after she said that, the third one behind me squirted a liquid into my mouth. It made my tongue tingle and tasted like Novocain. I could taste it. My first thought was, I hope they didn't give me too much and cause me to overdose. I was worried about that. I think I already knew on some level that they had given me some already. I went back to sleep just a few seconds after that, and it seemed to me that I woke up again within minutes back in my own bed. I think the take away is that the cover dreams aren't designed to confuse you long term. To make you believe the next morning that you just had a dream. No, it has a shorter term goal than that. You're waking up, they want you to go back to sleep before it happens. The cover dream is a technique they use to do that. If that fails they move on to other things. Drugs in my case, though that may not be the only option. I can't say for sure that it is. Maybe that's the one they know works best on me, but maybe not necessarily you.

I think that's why some of us have them. And I bet it's people who have a habit like I do, of waking up while they're still doing whatever it is they do. The good news is, it seems to indicate they don't have 100% control over us. They're system isn't perfect. It can be beat. I think that's good news anyway.

The only time I was ever sedated was when I got my wisdom teeth taken out. After the operation they moved me into the recovery room to sleep it off. I woke up at some point before the stuff wore off. I remember trying to get up out of the bed. A nurse shoved me back down and I went back to sleep for awhile and eventually woke up later. Waking up when I shouldn't I think is just something I do, and I'm sure it's a problem for them.
