Liberation ending question

Why are the corps fighting you? Ayre says something to the effect “you’ll make yourself the enemy of the arquebus and Carla”. Isn’t arquebus trying to stop xylem too? Why are they your enemy? Other than you’ve just pissed them off by this point. I mean isn’t snail fighting you just because he hates you? Why do they send Walter after you?
