Dew and telescopes

The winter is certainly the best time of year to view the heavens but the cold also promotes dew and leads to a lot of frustrations.

My Skywatcher 130p Heritage really suffered from dew. It's relatively easy to deal with on the eyepiece (with a heater) but not so much on the mirrors.

I also have a C6, which even with a dew shield and heater, I can't quite keep dew free on the corrector lens; the heat struggles to make it all the way to the middle of the lens. Celestron make a special heater ring but it looks like you need a very expensive controller for it.

For this reason I'm reluctant to but a bigger telescope (such as an 8" Newtonian) because it will struggle with dew even more. I'm even thinking about just buying a 100 mm refractor because I can be sure my heater will deal with the dew given the 100 mm size.

Any thoughts?
