Bike sounds like it is skipping teeth

This is a bit hard to explain but I will try my best. I recently converted my 2x8 to a single speed and when I start moving from a stand still like at a red light I hear a pop or something. I am either thinking my chain is skipping or the conversion kit I used is skipping on the hub. I can’t record it because it is so intermittent but any help would be welcome.
