Can old forbidden cards beat today's meta deck?

Let's say you had access to all the old yugioh cards. So only cards from the original series. Cards released up to 2005 and older. Could you put together a deck to beat today's meta decks.

Rules

You can use any card from the original yugioh series. Even forbidden cards like Pot of Greed, Painful choice, Last Turn, the Forceful Sentry etc

But you can not have multiple copies of forbidden cards. So no running 3 pot of greeds etc. You can have 3 copies of cards that aren't forbidden or limited like 3 blue eyes, etc

And no excodia decks as those can surely compete with no forbidden cards.

Do you think with only the old cards but with access to all forbidden cards. It would be possible to form a deck that would be able to match up to today's meta decks?
