Need help clearing up level confusion

Hey all, playing through borderlands 2 fully for the first time and have a question about leveling. I read some old posts online something about weapon levels capping at 50 and if you switch to tvhm after you reach that you will have underleveled weapons. I plan on doing all side quests and dlc’s before finishing the story (except tina and hammerlock due to story reasons). I have all the dlc’s so I understand i can get up to level 80 or something crazy like that so i was wondering if i’ll have to worry about this level 50 weapon cap or not
