Do people in your country care about their heritage?

From what I’ve seen it seems some countries put more emphasis on it and will say it when talking to people. Like saying they’re Italian or Irish or what we when talking to people. Where you family originally comes from, not where they are now.

Curious how spread it is. Also I grouped them because of lack of options. And the Americas and Australia seem to put more emphasis on where your family came from, from what I’ve seen.
