Apple Watch really doesn’t get time zones

I have been traveling a lot lately and it’s still a mystery to me how the Apple Watch deals with time zone changes. Seems to be all over the place.

First picture shows my rings after a recent trip
from Europe to Hong Kong. Got 13 hours of standing that day (made an effort getting up regularly on the plane). Apple Watch shows all
13 but only counts 10 (which broke my monthslong streak 😒).

Second picture shows results after being back in Europe for a few hours. Watch says 11 hours of standing done but when you count the hours it’s actually only been 9.

Has anybody figured out the logic of the watch? Would like to know what I need to do to get a more accurate result. Do I need to change the time zone to my destination before departure?
