Showering while locked up?

It might seem like a simple question but I am quite new so any help would be nice.

My question is would it be safe to shower while locked up or would it be more beneficial and hygienic to take it off for a shower?

The reason I ask is because I am a very active person and sweat a lot so I just wanted to ask.
