Celtics odd number year curse continues

The Celtics have always delivered in years ending in an even number and have always underperformed or had bad luck in years ending with an odd number.

2018 - Kyrie and Hayward go down. A young Celtics team lead by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown make it all the way to the ECF and take prime Lebron James to 7 games. This team exceeded all expectations.

2019- Kyrie and Hayward return. Celtics are healthy and stacked on paper but chemistry just never works and we lose in 5 games to the Bucks in the 2nd round. Clearly disappointing results from a team many had picked to win the East.

2020- We sign Kemba and Celtics basketball is fun again. We make it back to the ECF and lose to the Heat. Tatum and Brown are still young and this was a good season.

2021- Covid season from hell. Kemba’s knees give out. All our players are in and out of the line up with covid. Jaylen Brown misses the post season and we get bounced by the Nets in the first round. This was the only first round exit in Tatum’s career.

2022- After starting the season as a 500 team, the Celtics go on an insane run to end the season and make the Finals for the first time in over a decade. This team clearly exceeded expectations and shocked everybody by making it to the Finals.

2023 - Bad luck to begin the season as Ime is suspended just before the season starts. The team got better on paper but just lacked something the previous team had. We lose to an 8 seed team and get blown out in game 7 when Tatum rolled his ankle in the literal first possession of the game.

2024 - One of the best Celtics season of all time. Dominant from the start of the season to the end of the season. Additions of Holiday and Porzingis are seamless fits. Dominant post season run with very little resistance to secure Banner 18.

2025- Another season from hell with awful luck. Won 61 games in the regular season but some things never felt right. Played an entire month of 500 basketball. Lost to the Knicks by choking back to back 20 point leads in games 1 and 2. Tatum gets injured in game 4 with an achilles tear, his first major injury in his career. Porzingis has a mysterious illness and Jaylen has a bone bruise. We lose to the Knicks in game 6 by a whopping 38 points.


Hopefully the streak continues and next year the Celtics perform well and have good luck.
