If someone breaks into your house and you shoot to kill, should that be a crime?

Read a story on X earlier where a guy who shot at people who broke into his garage and killed one of them. He’s being charged with manslaughter. We don’t know what his intent was but I’m curious to see if it were revealed he 100% shot to kill, do you feel that should be against the law?
