how are you supposed to navigate in concecrated snowfield? i realised why they call it HIDDEN path to the haligtree

so i just got there and i figured out tht the reaseon its called hidden path to the haligtree is bc you cant see shit

like i figure that i should follow the one road on the map(i still dont have map fragment) so i do it, and omw i get spotted by some enemes that were behind a carriege of two giants so they look easy and i kill htem,but 3 secs later i get fucking drop kicked by what looks to be a kaiden warrior

i read on the wiki that buying the sentrys torch clears up the fog but is this true?
