HOT TAKE! I actually like the Magia Record anime more than the original >.>
Yeah I know blasphemy! Don't get me wrong I love both to no end, but Magia Record gave me more of what I want from a magical girl show
By that I mean mostly that what I love most about magical girls shows are the fun team dynamic!
In record we got more scenes/episodes of the main cast dealing with problems together and generally interacting as a whole.
In the original we only ever got brief glimpses of the cast together as a team in other timelines while in the main story they are far more divided. Now obviously the story of Madoka Magica is not about giving the traditional magical girl experience but still it's my preference.
I also prefer iroha as a protagonist over Madoka. As I said in my other reddit post ranking my favorites from the main cast I find Madoka the least interesting because again of how the show is structured. Madoka is not able to take many proactive actions without Homura stoping her or resetting the timeline again.
Now I still recognize that Madoka Magica is a better anime objectively speaking but if I were ever to choose which series I wanna rewatch again I have to pick Magia Record.
