why do people hate varre so much? he is just honest

so ive done varres quest aside from the part where i kull him bc i dotn want his weapon and he doesnt annoy me,but everyone hates him

but why? he is just honest and tells you that you are maidenless WHICH YOU ARE and he gives you a free tp tp mogh,whats there not to like?

do ppls just hate him bc he telkls you the truth and doesnt d!ckride you like other npcs?
