For those who wish Walmart had better health insurance, supplemental health options exist
Hey guys, so I just turned 26 late last year and as a result of losing my parents plan, had to sign up for Walmarts. I admit I was spoiled and never had a deductible before. I was happy the premier plan I chose at least had a copay structure for office visits but Having a 2750 deductible was not comforting.
So I did research and found out that supplemental health plans exist and for many people, they can very affordable. I got a plan for just 6.97 a month that pays 3,000 dollars if ur admitted to the hospital and $240 for each day after that your there. This would cover the deductible on all of Walmarts plans, and a good chunk of the coinsurance afterward.
I used State Farm’s basic plan but they have one that’s a tad more expensive but covers more scenarios like ER visits, out patient surgery and other stuff. There are other companies that do it also, so it’s worth shopping around but for those of us stuck with Walmarts very average plans, it’s def worth looking into imo.
This where I found mine but again, it’s worth looking at other companies also. Some of states have more competition than others. In NY, it was hard for me to find other options cause of the regulations from the state but other states had other companies like Aflac, Cigna, etc.
