[Subjective/Loved Trope] The Protective Patriach

An authority figure who uses their authority/strength/dominance primarily in service of protecting others and is often willing to sacrifice themselves for the group/their dependents. A figure whose presence others can take strength and reassurance from.

1. Mufasa (Lion King) - the ultimate incarnation of this trope.
2. Kercheck (Tarzan) - grappled with Tarzan as a threat to his family's safety, particularly given his own trauma, but ultimately only cared about protecting his tribe.
3. King Triton (The Little Mermaid) - father/ruler who is powerful and caring.
4. Chief Powhatan (Pocahontas) - stern and seemingly rigid but ultimately driven by both his desire to protect and his values.
5. Sitka (Brother Bear) - a wonderfully underrated character. Did his best to protect and guide his younger brothers.
6. Aslan (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) - Why are lions such a good fit for this trope? Benevolent and protective with his power. Misunderstood by some characters but a source of hope and strength for those who need him.
7. Kanga (Winnie the Pooh) - I wanted to include a female version of this as I think there are examples. She's the calm adult presence in the Hundred Acre Wood and is a protective matriarch who leverages her authority rather than dominance/strength.
