🎉 RedQuill Updates - Week of February 22, 2026
# New Features
**🔎 Search + Discover are now unified**
We merged Search and Discover into one experience so it’s faster to find stories, ideas, and components in one place, without jumping between separate pages.
Let us know feedback, especially around searching for Components, as we are still open to changing the design of this function.
**📝 Chapter summaries in Lorebook**
You can now use chapter summaries to quickly catch up, keep continuity across long stories, and give the AI better memory context for what should happen next.
**🔔 New chapter notifications**
We added chapter notification improvements so it’s easier to stay on top of story updates as new chapters are added by RedQuillers who you follow!
**💡 Suggestion quality improvements**
We refined suggestion behavior (including trimming/cleanup) to make writing suggestions cleaner and more useful while you iterate.
# Performance / Infra Update
Thank you for your patience as we're now doing a full audit and rehaul of how we handle, track and fix performance issues on RedQuill. We're really committed to making this much better, and it continues to be our #1 priority on the engineering side to the point that we brought in support (see below).
Some things we did this week:
1. We shipped multiple backend/infrastructure improvements that reduce server load and improve responsiveness, including lower instrumentation overhead, memory/runtime stability improvements, and fixes for intermittent request failures.
2. We also brought in additional help yesterday (they will go by "M") to rethink how we monitor and identify issues. Some things M found that we could do better include: media-processing (from audio), timeout protections and much more. Appreciate RedQuillers offering help - we will reach back out if we continue to face issues, but in the meantime *let's thank M for jumping in and helping RedQuill out!*
