🎉 RedQuill Updates - Week of March 15, 2026

Hey everyone, here's what's new this week on RedQuill. We have been working more on internal improvements to our infra processes, coming off of the infra issues a few weeks ago.

# What's New

**🏃‍♀️ Much faster page loads**

* Pages now load significantly faster, especially after updates
* Static assets like images and fonts are now cached at the edge so they don't have to travel all the way back to our servers
* The homepage no longer pre-loads a bunch of pages you haven't clicked on yet, so the page you'reactually on loads faster

 🛠️ **Fixes**

* Fixed a bug where the @ mention popup could appear in the wrong spot in the editor -
* Auto-tagging is more reliable now — fewer stories slipping through without tags -
* Removed Kink Explorer from navigation so we can better moderate it, but it's at [https://www.redquill.net/kink-map](https://www.redquill.net/kink-map) to play around with

**Data report on RedQuill usage: We analyzed 27 million stories**

Curious about how we all use RedQuill? We did some research, keeping all data confidential, anonymized and private.

# Community

**March writing contest**

From March 15 - 31, we've been running a contest to earn Quills for stories that get the most increase in story views! [Contest details here](https://www.reddit.com/r/redquill/comments/1rqwx17/march_1531_contest_quills_for_story_views/).

RedQuillers have several ways to earn. You can either win Quills through *weekly prizes* (100 Quills for top 5 RedQuillers each week), or from the grand prize for the top 3 stories with the most story view gains (#1 - 1000 Quills; #2-3 - 730 Quills).

We've been reporting the Leaderboard daily on r/redquill to keep everyone posted.

# Upcoming

We're continuing on making operational and engineering process changes that enable us to fix bugs fasters and have a more stable product.

This means we're spending more time on improving design, usability and quality of life improvements vs. new features in the next weeks. **If you have feedback on things that would make your life better and reduce frustrations, let us know.**
