The clunk of Trevor’s boots knocking on the cement floor echoed off the hallway walls. The hall was dark, and a draft of air pulled him forward, calling him into the stadium just beyond.
HU’s viewing box was electric with excitement upon Beverly’s upset victory over Leo, the star of CoCC. While they all boasted confidence, none expected her to defeat him. And witnessing Leo at a fraction of his power, Trevor certainly wasn’t expecting the ending they got. But she emerged victorious, and HU was well on its way to a perfect score on Day 1.
Then his name blurred onto the screen, and his opponent was Emrys. A woman from CoCC. The entire viewing box fell quiet, their confidence, which was at its peak seconds before, was now shaken. The entire day was a display on what happened when a girl fought a boy. CoCC just witnessed their star wailing for his balls, and now HU… Trevor smirked, he never thought he’d be here.
His classmates still roared encouragement, they still cheered him on as he left for the arena. But they all experienced the same… hesitation. Trevor always believed in his strength, and the last few months had done everything they could to put his foot in his mouth and humble him. His own classmates didn’t believe in him, not really.
“Trev!” A familiar voice shouted from behind. There were only two people he knew who addressed him like that.
*Maria?* Trevor hoped beyond hope, his heart skipping a beat at the chance she could be the one to suddenly appear by his side. But in his heart of hearts he knew it wasn’t her- the person who called him was running toward him after all. And her sneakers were squeaking off the floor.
“Am,” Trevor spun around, clenching his jaw to keep it from falling to the floor. *Why the hell did the Professor require these fucking uniforms?*
Amber jogged right for Trevor, her heaving chest and thick thighs rippled with mouthwatering expression. Trevor had to dart his gaze away, now with their friendship, it felt wrong to leer at her. Amber reached him, slightly out of breath.
“Sorry,” Amber gasped, holding herself up by her knees. Her skirt rode up her ample butt. “I just wanted… just wanted to tell you you’re going to kill it out there.”
Trevor smirked, shaking his head. “Seriously? I’ll be fine?”
“You can quit the tough guy act,” Amber snapped. “We’re alone.”
“I’m not going to lose this for us, Am.” Trevor replied firmly.
“Stop it,” Amber replied. “I know. I didn’t come out here to wish you luck, I didn’t come out here to tell you I believe in you. I’m telling you right now that you’re going to win, and I know it.”
“What is this?”
“What you said during the preliminaries really bothered me,” Amber said. “I’ve been thinking about it ever since-“
“Oh, Am,” Trevor groaned pinching his brow. He was beet red with shame, he wanted to shrink into the floor. She was the only witness to his dramatic episode, and all the stupid things he blabbed. “We’re fine, we’ve been over this. Do we really have to talk about it?”
“No, I’m not trying-“ Amber huffed, crossing her arms. She looked Trevor dead in the eye, her green eyes twinkled brightly in the dark hall, perfect contrast to her brown hair. “Whenever I think of strength, I think of you.”
Trevor frowned, *What is she talking about?*
“Since we were kids,” Amber answered his silent question. “Every time I wanted to be strong, every time I thought about the odds I had to overcome, you were who came to mind. Even now, when I think about true strength, I don’t think of Maria, or even Professor Wilkins. It’s you. You have always been the goal. My hill to climb.”
“Why are you telling me this?” Trevor asked, a hurricane of emotions drowning him. Embarrassment being the most powerful of them.
“Because,” Amber said, an air of confidence underneath her words. A confidence Trevor had only just recently noticed started breathing out of her. “I’m not wishing you good luck. You don’t need it.”
“Hmph,” Trevor smirked, his eyes falling, a gray glow casting out of his eyes. “I appreciate it. But I wish you weren’t the girl coming here to not wish me luck.”
Amber didn’t immediately respond, she slumped up against the wall beside him. She knew exactly who he meant. “I texted Maria.”
Trevor looked at her in confusion.
“I let her know you’re up,” Amber replied. “I know it sucks you don’t have her here to cheer you on.”
“I just…” Trevor sighed. “I just wish she got to see me actually do well, you know? Is that lame?”
“Kinda,” Amber snickered. “But love makes people lame, doesn’t it?”
“Hmph,” Trevor smirked. “I guess.”
“She should be here,” Amber said. “I told her that too-“
“No,” Trevor smiled. “Thanks for the back up, but it’s okay really. She’s doing important stuff.”
Amber smiled back softly. A horn echoed off in the distance, down the hall and from the arena.
“Guess that’s my cue.” Trevor rose from the wall, striding down the hall.
“Kick her ass Trev.”
*Trevor vs Emrys*
Trevor stepped out onto the arena, surveying his surroundings with a cocked brow. The tournament runners had made changes.
The stage was the same, a gigantic square cement arena. But the out of bounds was changed- instead of a field of grass, the entire area outside the stage was transformed into a forest. Tall, gnarled trees that loomed over Trevor and his opponent.
*So*, Trevor reasoned, setting his gaze on his female opponent. *They make accommodations for our powers.*
Looking at Emrys, Trevor felt like he was staring at a nymph. She was wrapped in vines and leaves, naked beneath the foliage. Her creamy skin almost burned under the sunlight, a series of vines strained against her heaving chest.
Emrys had wavy, bright red hair that fell past her waist. Her pale face was splattered freckles, and her eyes were green like a spring-leaves. She was taller than most girls Trevor knew, taller than Maria and Amber for sure. *5’8?* Trevor guessed her height.
*It’s like staring at a druid,* Trevor narrowed his eyes. She stood in the center of the arena, glaring darkly at him, unbothered by the attention her choice of apparel, if you could call it that, caused. Trevor fought with all his strength not to let his eyes drown in Emrys’ exposed cleavage. Her chest was pressed *taut* together.
“I’m gonna make you pay for what you did to Leo,” Emrys hissed. Trevor frowned.
“I didn’t do anything to him,” Trevor replied.
“One of your girls humiliated him,” Emrys answered. “Now I’m gonna make them watch their strongest student cry for their balls.”
*Figures*, Trevor groaned internally. *Never going to get a fair fight, am I?*
“AND!” Omnivoice roared from the heavens. “BEGIN!”
Trevor didn’t wait, he leapt back, knowing Emrys in her rage would go on the attack. And go on the attack she did.
“RAAAH!” Emrys clapped her hands together, and the forest behind her came alive.
Giant roots ripped out from the ground, thick tree branches grew exponentially, shooting forward. Vines snaked out from cracks in the cement at their feet, coiling and whipping erratically.
*Shit*, Trevor scoffed. *That’s cool.*
Emrys unleashed the forest on Trevor, quickly surrounding him. He set his stance, clapping his own hands together, unable to hold back a smile.
*Alright*, Trevor grinned viciously. *Let’s go wild.*
In a split second, puffy clouds high in the sky cast over the arena, covering the coliseum in shadow.
Before the roots and branches could seize Trevor, bolts of lightning rained from the heavens, splitting and shattering the trees assaulting him. Emrys showed no reaction to his defense, her gaze was fierce and focused.
*Level-headed,* Trevor smirked, thinking of Amber. *I’d expect no less.*
Trevor wrapped his legs in wind, just as vines erupted from beneath him. He leapt into the sky, soaring away from Emrys’ attack. All the trees in the arena came alive swiping after him with their limbs and lashing at him with their roots wildly. Trevor grit his teeth; with masterful grace he flew around each attack, darting and weaving around everything Emrys threw at him.
*Twenty seconds,* Trevor spun away from the most recent swipe. That’s how long he had to end this. Every match, including LU’s, of the day had at least lasted one minute. But not his. He’d win in half the time.
Trevor’s eyes glittered with blue light, and forks of lightning sparked out of his body. He set his gaze on Emrys, an entire forest had grown between him and her.
A thunderclap echoed in the air, Trevor disappeared in a blur of blue light, his lightning body incinerating all the foliage that tried to trap him. He stopped just at her feet, crouched low and to the ground.
“NICE TRY!” Emrys growled, holding a hand up between them. A vine was wrapped around her waist, and yanked her back, well out of reach.
Suddenly, bulbous flowers sprouted all around Trevor. They trembled with almost a muscular ache quality and then opened. One breath and Trevor felt the effect.
*A nerve agent?!* Trevor’s eyes lit up and he grinned viciously. *Clever brat!*
Ten seconds, maybe less. That’s how long he had before he was completely paralyzed. That worked out, he wanted to end things quickly.
“MY TURN!” Trevor roared, crossing his arms, he knew what her plan was. Distract and disable him with this and seize him. *Too bad, Emrys. You’re fighting the wrong guy.*
Roots sprang from beneath him, branches speared right for him. The forest had grown over onto the stadium, he was surrounded and assaulted on all sides. Trevor’s hair fluttered from the swirl of a tiny gust of wind.
He spread his arms out with a violent motion, and a hurricane exploded out from him, in all directions. The force of the wind destroyed all the tree limbs attacking him, shattered the ground at his feet, and expelled the gas away from him, all in one moment.
Emrys’ expression finally turned to shock, *The gas didn’t work?!*
“YOU UNDERESTIMATE ME!” Trevor roared, his entire body crackling and spasming. As if his muscles were being electrocuted.
*Five seconds.*
Trevor became a blur of light, once again soaring straight for Emrys. Before she could respond, he called upon the storm above, a volley of lightning peppered the arena, severing any vine, root, or tree from Emrys, so she couldn’t get away.
He landed right in front of her.
“I WON’T LOSE!” Emrys roared, jutting her hands forward.
Trevor shot his arms between her guard, spreading his fingers wide.
Trevor sent a blast of wind from his palms, punching her right under the ribcage. Emrys choked on her breath, curling in on herself from the force of the blow. Emrys cried out as she was lifted off her feet and launched out of the arena, crashing into the grassy field below, out of bounds.
*DING!DING!DING!*
“WE HAVE OUR WINNER!” Omnivoice bellowed. “A TOURNAMENT FIRST! TREVOR FROM HU CLAIMS VICTORY IN TWENTY-SEVEN SECONDS!”
Trevor dropped to one knee, a smile on his face. It was a gamble but it paid off.
Through the roar of the crowd and the applause, Trevor heard the softest of whimpers. He stumbled to the edge of the arena, Emrys laid on the grass with her arm over her face, tears flowed down her cheeks.
“Hey,” Trevor called out. “It was a good fight.”
“Shut up,” Emrys squeaked, sniffling. Doing all she could to not burst into sobs. “I can’t believe I lost. So fast!”
“You almost had me,” Trevor sat on the edge of the arena, resting an arm on an upraised knee. His broad chest rose and fell steadily as he gained control of his breathing.
“Don’t patronize me,” Emrys hissed, her face twisting beneath her forearm. “I lost in thirty seconds… I’m… an embarrassment to my school.”
“I didn’t know electrocuting myself would work,” Trevor explained. “It was a last ditch effort.”
Emrys final led peered over her arm, her green eyes were puddled but her ferocious gaze still twinkled in her iris’. “What do you mean?”
“I sent lightning through my nervous system,” Trevor gestured at his torso, his thick muscles were taut. “To fry the gas you trapped me in. It was the only way to stop you completely paralyzing me. If I wasn’t resistant to lightning, I would’ve been done for.”
Emrys stifled her whimpers, crawling onto her knees, looking up at him.
“You played me perfectly,” Trevor continued. “Drew me right into your trap, it was brilliant.”
“Thanks…” Emrys mumbled. “So I really had you?”
“Well,” Trevor smirked. “I had another trick or two up my sleeve if that didn’t work.”
“You’re a dick.”
“Yup,” Trevor hopped off the arena holding out his hand to Emrys. “Good fight. You’re strong.”
Emrys regarded Trevor with a query look. He was completely different than she expected him to be.
“You too,” Emrys took Trevor’s hand.
*Joey vs Melody*
“I’m four for four with you HU boys,” Melody cooed, glaring at Joey with her dark iris’. “You ready to make it five?”
Joey narrowed his eyes. Up close and in person, he understood how the others were caught so off guard. Melody’s gaze was alluring. She had this mischievous, gloomy light sheening in her ebony eyes. Not to mention her ass was perfectly round and firm, the definition of a bubble butt. He was enormously grateful he had seen her power on such prominent display throughout the day. This match would’ve spelt doom for him if he had not. But now he had a plan.
Joey was tall and bulky; he did not have the chiseled, sculpted muscles of his classmates like Pedro or Trevor. He was a beefy, thick slab of meat, with short tan hair, brown eyes, and copper skin. His appearance led most to assume his power was physical, like super strength. But fortunately, they were wrong. Joey flashed a smile at Melody, he could catch her off guard if he acted a certain way.
“I know all your tricks, little girl,” Joey smacked his chest like a gorilla. His muscular form rippled underneath his costume, black and blue tights. “Sorry, I’m gonna throw you out of the ring.”
“Ohhh I’ve never heard that before,” Melody knocked her head side to side, rolling her eyes.
“Do you fight in rings often?” Joey couldn’t help himself.
Melody locked her jaw. “Are you making fun of me?”
“Little bit,” Joey shrugged. “You’re pretty easy to make fun of.”
Melody sneered, a twinkle of twisted amusement in her ebony eyes. “I’m gonna hurt you, beefcake.”
Joey dropped into a fighting stance. “Bring it.”
“AND BEGIN!” Omnivoice roared from above.
Despite his enormous size, Joey was nothing to the leaders of his class. On paper, his power should be monstrous. He could manipulate sound waves, their frequency and their strength. When his powers first awakened he thought he’d be unstoppable. But then, of course, his mighty power came with a caveat. He could only control sound waves in the direction he pointed his fingers.
This of course meant against powerhouses like Pedro, Trevor, Maria, or even geniuses like Amber, could avoid his power quite simply. However, if one did not know his ability…
Joey jabbed his finger forward, pointing directly at her humble chest. He grimaced, she already began separating herself before he could fire his first wave. But, fortunately, she was not completely fast enough.
Melody’s eyes widened, her entire torso dropped like a sack of potatoes just as she separated her limbs and head from it. She couldn’t command it, she couldn’t lift it!
“I figure your ability has to do with your brain,” Joey smirked, clicking his thumbs like a finger-gun and winking. “Almost like a radio, huh? I interrupt that, you’ve got nothing.”
For the third time on the same day, Melody’s face contorted due to a man. “YEAH WELL-“
Melody forced her remaining body into pieces, and spun around the arena, rocketing her head in the whirlwind of limbs. “YOU’LL HAVE TO CATCH ALL OF ME TO WIN!”
Joey grinned, as the storm of flesh encircled him, and began to close. “I’m not going to be the only one to lose today!”
The battle was brief, though to Joey’s dismay longer than Trevor’s. Melody launched flying body part after flying body part after Joey. And he displayed surprising nimbleness; leaping, rolling, darting around every attack he could. He repeatedly fired disabling sound waves, their frequency and strength meant to jar the nerves and sever the connection to Melody. He fought with some success at first.
Joey leapt away from a vicious boot aimed at his groin; focused on the limb that almost ended the fight, Joey didn’t notice Melody’s disembodied fist sail through the air and crash into his jaw.
Joey stumbled back, growling, refocusing on the rest of her. But another foot was sent towards his precious jewels. He defended himself but suffered another blow, this time to the back of the head. Then the gut. Then his side.
*Targeting one part at a time isn’t working!* Joey grimaced, he needed to somehow sever her entire connection. *Think Joey, think!*
Joey racked his brain, running through all of Melody’s fights. She always split into a million pieces, but there had to be a weakness! An Achilles heel.
Joey bobbed and weaved as best he could, suffering blow after blow everywhere but his balls, he could at least keep those safe from her.
“IT’S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME, BEEFCAKE!” Melody cackled.
*What am I missing?* Joey scowled, locking eyes with Melody. Both eyes, her whole face. In fact, her entire head floated in the whirlwind. *That’s it!*
“GET READY!” Joey roared back, tucking and rolling underneath a flurry of punches and kicks. This had to work. It was his last bet.
Joey pointed both fingers at Melody, her grin disappeared. *I’m right!*
Melody’s head flew in all directions, at the same time she swarmed Joey with her dismembered body. Joey fired wave after wave, missing her. She was so fast.
*Don’t panic!* Joey roared at himself, as he dove away from what would have been a man-breaking uppercut. *Come on, remember what mom taught you! Don’t aim where they are!*
Joey tucked his arms in, rolling on his shoulders and landing on his feet. He crouched to one knee, pointing just ahead of Melody’s head.
*Aim where they’re going!*
Melody, all of her, froze. She remained suspended in midair for a second more, and then each piece of her collapsed to the arena floor. Motionless.
*YES*! Joey fought the urge to fist-pump the air. He spun around, eagerly awaiting his win to be announced. *Thats a knockout right?*
“You shithead…” Melody moaned, Joey craned his neck over his shoulder scoffing.
Melody’s disembodied head twirled on the arena, facing him with a snarl on her face.
“I can’t… how did you-“
“In all your fights, you never split your head,” Joey shrugged. “It was only a guess, but it looks like I was right. It’s cause you can’t split it, right? You need your brain to be able to command your body.”
Melody narrowed her eyes, glaring darkly at Joey.
“I just hit your head with the right frequency to disrupt that connection,” Joey finished. “I’m guessing since they haven’t called it I either need to knock you out for good or-“
Joey stomped towards the largest piece of her, her torso.
“Pretty clever,” Melody called out to him, as Joey lifted her torso up. “Figuring out my power like that. Not a lot of people get past the ‘she can split her body up and control it’ part.”
“Yeah, well,” Joey tapped his forehead. “Not all of us are just brawn.”
Joey was near the edge of the stage, he lifted Melody’s torso in his arms, ready to toss her out of bounds. It wasn’t the best showing of his power, after all he was able to level buildings with his sound waves, but at least he won the fight.
“One thing beefcake,” Melody called out.
“Yeah?” Joey turned to face her head, far back near the center of the arena.
“I know about my weakness too.”
*THWUUUMP!!*
Joey lurched forward, an ocean of pain erupting in his balls and stomach. His eyes bulged, bile curdled in his throat, he stared in horror at his crotch. A disembodied hand, Melody’s hand, was buried into his groin, her fist was closed shut around his ballsack.
*Oh god, no!* Joey panicked, she had a vice-grip on his balls.
“HAIIIIE!” Joey yelped, Melody began twisting his testicles in on themselves, throwing him in a hurricane of agony.
*Nononono*, Joey lamented, *this can’t be happening! No!*
“If I focus on one body part,” Melody smirked. “I regain control much quicker. This isn’t the first time I’ve been hit in the head, loser.”
“*Oh my god,”* Joey curled around her hand, doing all he could to stand. He was so close, the out of bounds was right there! Right behind him!
“Now, if you want to keep your little ballsies-“
Joey didn’t let her finish, he knew he’d capitulate. He was already in so much pain, and she was just lightly squeezing his balls. They were already squishing through her fingers.
Joey spun around and threw Melody’s torso out the arena.
“You idiot!” Melody shouted.
Joey howled, Melody twisted his nuts a hundred and eighty degrees, he threw himself to the ground like he was being ragdolled.
*Oh my god!* Joey wailed, clawing at Melody’s vicious fingers crushing his testicles. *No god please! Please! Nononono!*
*DING!DING!DING!*
“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!” Omnivoice announced.
“OH GOD PLEASE NO!” Joey cried out, Melody tightened her grip, she was caving in his balls.
“WE HAVE OUR WINNER!”
“MELODY PLEASE! PLEASE STOOOOOOP!” Joey begged, tears fell freely down his cheeks. He knew nothing but anguish, true and absolute agony. She began twisting his ballsack, like she had done to Julio. How could she squeeze so hard?!?
“BY OUT OF BOUNDS!”
“NOOOOOOO-“
“HU’S JOEY GAINS A PERFECT VICTORY FOR HIS SCHOOL ON DAY 1!”
“MYYYYYYYYY BALLLLLLLLLLLS!” Joey howled, his voice in full falsetto as Melody squished his testicles into each other, flattening them into discs.
Melody cackled as the announcer finished. By the time the medics arrived, she had regained control of her entire body and put herself back together, not a single scratch was on her. Meanwhile, the medics tended to the victor of the match, who was shivering and puking out his balls.
*In an Adjacent Arena, the final match between LU and ICC concludes*
Reid rolled back and forth on the grass, clutching his shattered balls. Tears streamed down his face and puddled at his cheeks. His balls were on fire, the pain was like nothing he had felt before. He couldn’t move, he couldn’t barely even scream. He could only curl up in the fetal position and whimper.
“LADIES AND GENTLEMENT!” Omnivoice roared. “THE RECORD IS ONCE AGAIN SHATTERED! LU’S VERY OWN EXCHANGE STUDENT LIN EMERGES VICTORIOUS IN A BLINDINGLY FAST SEVEN SECONDS!”
Reid hurled, what even happened? One second he was looking at a skinny Asian girl with sleek black hair, long legs and a plump ass, and then she disappeared. Next thing he knew, her instep crashed into his nuts and scrambled them.
*Oh god,* Reid groaned, rolling around, sticking his ass in the air as the pain bubbled in his stomach. His crushed testicles were sending tremors through his entire body. *She even wiggled her toes.*
Lin sat on the edge of the arena her feet dangling lightly above the grass.
“You still aren’t looking,” Lin pouted, as the boy whose testicles she obliterated rolled in his own puke and cried for his balls, not even aware she was right behind him. Not even crushing a boys balls got his attention.
“ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE A TOURNAMENT FIRST!” Omnivoice bellowed. “BOTH LU AND HU HAVE WON EVERY ROUND OF DAY ONE! GAINING A PERFECT SCORE!”
Reid sank in on himself. He didn’t even put up a fight. One kick was all it took.
*Day 1 ends either HU and LU scoring a perfect victory! CoCC and ICC gain no points! The Tournament is off to a crazy start! What’s next for all of our heroes? Stay tuned for the next chapter of the Tournament of Heroes! One In The Morning!*
