20 [F] — Varsity Debrief: Scouting for my Female Bestie.
I’m a 20-year-old sprinter out here in California, and honestly, I’m just going to put it on the "game film": I am simping absolute laps for my female best friend. I’m a high-energy, D1 athlete, but when it comes to her, I’m basically her personal equipment manager. I buy her gifts, I run every "errand" drill she throws at me, and if she needs a Civil Engineering project proofread at 3 AM, I’m already on it. I’m not being forced into the "practice squad"—I actually love being her MVP. Seeing her hit a personal best or even just getting a "thanks, girl" text makes my heart rate redline in the best way possible.
I even have her as my lockscreen; it’s like having a "scouting report" of the most beautiful girl in the world right in my pocket. People might say a D1 sprinter shouldn't be playing "benchwarmer" for her bestie, but it keeps my mood at a championship level. I’m not even looking for a roster spot in her dating life; I just like knowing I’m her go-to teammate. I actually asked her for one of her old track socks lately—I wanted a "souvenir" of her grind—and she told me "not yet," which has my brain running circles. She did give me a few strands of her hair from her brush, though. I’m currently keeping them in a safe spot in my gym bag, but I’m looking for ideas on how to "preserve" these trophy stats.
