An edging guide for beginners

Hey everyone, I want to write a beginners guide to edging because I've seen a lot of people posting on the sub asking for tips and tricks. I thought I'd like to share my experience. I know this type of post has probably been made before but I'd like to share my experience as someone who's been big into edging for about 7 years and is currently 6 months denied (my maximum streak was 10 months) and my longest edging session in a day was 16 hours. Of course I'm a man so a lot of my tips will be more focused on people with penises, however I've learned a lot from girls I've talked to and edged with, so I'm hoping this guide will be helpful for anyone who wants to start out edging for the first time.

So first off, what even is edging? It's basically training yourself to get right up to the point where you're about to cum, that intense "I'm gonna blow" feeling, and then backing off just before it happens. No release, no orgasm, just riding that wave over and over. You stop or change what you're doing the second you feel that point of no return creeping in. For me it's become this whole lifestyle thing now. After 7 years I'm sitting here at 6 months without cumming and it feels fucking incredible most days. The denial makes everything more sensitive, every little touch feels electric.

Why do so many people love it? Once you get past those first clumsy sessions it's addictive as hell. The buildup is insane. Your body gets flooded with all that horny energy and it doesn't get the quick release valve, so it just keeps stacking. After a while your cock (or clit) gets hypersensitive. A 10 second edge can feel better than a full orgasm used to. The frustration turns into this deep, throbbing ache that makes normal life feel more vivid. Horniness leaks into everything. Food tastes better, music hits harder, even just walking around with a constant semi feels powerful. Girls I've edged with tell me the same thing but for them it's more full body, like their whole pelvis lights up and they get these rolling waves that almost feel like mini orgasms without the crash. For me it's all focused in my balls and shaft, this heavy, swollen pressure that makes me leak precum non stop for a few hours. The denial part, especially long streaks like my 10 month run, rewires your brain. You start craving the edge more than the cum. It's like the ultimate tease and it makes partnered play next level because you're both riding that same desperate wave together.

Getting into the right mood is half the battle, especially when you're just starting. Don't just jump in after a stressful day at work with your phone blowing up. I always set the scene. Dim lights or candles if I'm feeling it, close the door, put on some porn that actually turns me on (not the first thing I click, something I've saved that I know hits right). For me it's a mix of slow sensual stuff and hardcore denial clips. Take a shower first, get clean, maybe trim things up down there so everything feels smoother. Hydrate like crazy, drink water, because long sessions will wreck you if you're dehydrated. I usually edge in my bed or a comfy chair with good back support because 16 hours is no joke and your body will cramp up. Put your phone on Do Not Disturb. Tell yourself this is your time. If you're in a relationship and your partner is into it, get them involved early. Some of the best nights I've had were when a girl was whispering in my ear telling me not to cum while she stroked me agonizingly slow.

Now the tips and tricks I've picked up over the years. These are the things that actually moved the needle for me:

- Breathing is everything. When you feel yourself getting too close, slow your breathing way down. Deep belly breaths. It sounds basic but it drops your arousal level fast without killing the mood. I breathe in for 4, hold for 4, out for 6 when I'm right on the edge.

- The "stop and squeeze" method. The second you feel that telltale tingle in your balls or that sudden tightening, stop all movement and squeeze the base of your cock (right where it meets your body) pretty firmly for 10-15 seconds. This basically hits the brakes. Girls I've talked to do something similar by clenching their pelvic floor muscles hard.

- Change positions or switch hands. If you're getting too close too fast, stand up, switch to your non-dominant hand, or even switch from stroking your cock to just rubbing your balls or taint. The change in sensation resets the climb.

- Pacing is key. Start slow as fuck. The first 10-20 minutes should feel almost boring. Light touches, lots of lube (I swear by coconut oil or actual lube that doesn't dry out), focus on the head and frenulum more than full strokes at the beginning. Build speed gradually over hours, not minutes.

- Track your "edge numbers." I started rating how close I was on a scale of 1-10. 7 is horny, 8 is really close, 9 is "oh shit I'm right there," 9.5 is the point where if I move one more time I'm done. Learning to live in the 8.5-9 range is the sweet spot. It took me months to get good at reading my own body.

- Prostate play helps a ton. After about a year I started experimenting with a small prostate massager. It lets me edge from the inside and the orgasms (the ones I rarely allow myself) feel completely different. Even without cumming, it adds this deep full feeling that makes the denial more intense.

- Mental tricks. I started fantasizing about denial itself. Instead of thinking "I want to cum," I'd think "I don't deserve to cum yet." Sounds weird but it helps push the edge further. Some people I know use mantras or even light meditation.

Different edging methods I've tried that actually work for me:

The slow build method. This is what I recommend for total beginners. One hand, lots of lube, very slow full strokes for 5-10 minutes, then stop completely for 30-60 seconds when you hit 8. Repeat. My first successful session was only 45 minutes and I only stopped myself from cumming twice. Felt like a huge win.

The no-hands method. After a few months I got into humping pillows or using a fleshlight that I barely move. The lack of direct control makes it easier to stay on the edge longer because you can't speed up as easily. I once went 4 hours like this and was a leaking, shaking mess by the end.

The ruined orgasm method. Sometimes when I was first learning and couldn't stop myself, I'd aim for a ruined cum. That's where you stop all stimulation right as you start cumming so it just dribbles out with almost no pleasure. It's a safety valve that taught me control. After 7 years I rarely need it but it's there if you fuck up.

Long denial days. My 16-hour record was brutal but amazing. I broke it into chunks. 2 hours morning, break for food and walk, another 3 hours, lunch, then evening marathon. I used porn, audio erotica, even just closing my eyes and remembering past sessions. By hour 12 my cock was purple and twitching at the slightest breeze. The headspace you get into is wild.

What should you expect? Your first session probably won't be impressive. You might get to the edge once, maybe twice, and then accidentally cum. That's normal as fuck. I came on myself like 8 times in my first month before I could consistently stop. Your balls will ache in a way you've never felt. It's called blue balls for a reason but after a while that ache becomes part of the pleasure. You'll leak precum everywhere. After a few weeks of regular edging you'll start getting random erections at work just from thinking about it. Sleep might be hard because you're so horny. But that's all part of it. The first time you successfully edge for a full hour without cumming feels like climbing a mountain. The first time you hit multiple edges in one session is euphoric. By month 3 or 4 you'll be chasing longer and longer sessions naturally.

Staying on the edge without going past it is the hardest skill and it only comes with practice. The key is knowing your own body better than you know anything. Learn the exact signals. For me it's a combination of my balls pulling up tight, this specific tingle at the base of my cock, and my pelvic muscles starting to contract on their own. The moment I feel any of those I stop everything. No movement, sometimes I even take my hand completely off and just breathe. After 10-20 seconds the feeling backs off and I can start again. If I'm really close I might stand up and do 20 pushups or splash cold water on my cock. Sounds unsexy but it works. Over time you need less and less of that emergency stuff. Now I can stay in that perfect 9.0 zone for 20-30 minutes at a stretch, just floating there in this desperate, blissful state.

Of course the goal is not to cum. That's the whole point. But at the start it's completely normal to not be able to control yourself. Your first edging session won't be hours long, in fact it would be a success if you manage to stop yourself at the edge just once. It's all about building up. It will take time. But oh my god is it worth it. After 7 years of edging and 6 months denied I'm telling you the constant low level horniness, the sensitivity, the way sex feels when you finally do let go (I only cum a few times a year now, and only if it's with someone), it's life changing. My longest streak of 10 months left me feeling like a god by the end. Everything was more intense. If you're just starting, be patient with yourself. Don't get discouraged when you cum accidentally. Laugh it off, clean up, and try again tomorrow. The journey is the best part.
