[Marvel]How does Wolverine regenerate?

I am not a scientist, but I am wondering when Wolverine regenarates after being partially or totally blown up, a huge chunk of his mass is separated from his body, so how does he regenarates instantly? how does he creates new cells? does he uses atoms in the air, like carbon?
