I was a Gangstalker briefly in the early 2000's
There are some people who don't think Gangstalking exists. I can tell you it does exist, I did it for a period of a few months near the end of 2001 and into early 2002. Now, I can't tell you how every Gangstalking unit operates, and how they came to exist. I can only tell you about the one I was involved in. It was probably a very early version, possibly one of the first ever to exist. Maybe the first. I think the story about how we came to exist might surprise you. We didn't really start out with the intention of Gangstalking people in organized fashion. But that's what it devolved into. Then we got recruited, because we were very good at what we were doing. We didn't even know we were Gangstalking. Nor did we know, we were working for somebody. Not in the beginning anyway. Gangstalking didn't even exist when we started doing what we were doing. The story of how we came about follows.
It was in the wake of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. There were people like me out there, angry young men, who just wanted to find a middle easterner and tell him what a motherfucker I thought he was. I didn't care that he had nothing to do with 9/11. I just wanted to take a piece out of some Muslim's ass. One day I found through Google, a news forum online. It was named The Pakistan News Forum. It was an unmoderated free for all. I could say whatever I wanted, and I did. What I found when I got there, was that there was already 4 or 5 guys just like me, already there, tearing the place up. A couple of them were Americans, one was Australian and there was another from Asia somewhere. I don't remember the country. Singapore maybe. Of course we became immediate allies and friends. We kind of fed off each other, and grew tight. Over the period of a couple of weeks we had managed to run off all the regulars there with our foul mouthed antics, insulting Islam, insulting Mohammed, posting porn, etc. We were relentless. Once the attack started, we didn't stop until everybody at that forum was gone but us. That's when we began to search for more targets. When we found another forum full of Muslims, we went over there, as a group, and just hounded the regulars until we either ran them off or we were all banned.
We did this for probably a good month or so. Every night I got home from work, I'd go to the Pak News Forum to see what the guys were attacking that day, and I immediately went there and joined in. Over that month our numbers increased from 4 or 5 to start to about a dozen or so. We all used consistent nicknames so we could identify each other. I'm not going to lie. We had a blast doing that. We thought it was our little way to do our part in the, "war on terror. "
Over time, we found we were running out of forums to raid. They had to be English speaking forums of course, because none of us spoke Arabic, and unmoderated. If there was a moderator with ban ability, they'd just ban us, and that was the end of the raid. That's about the time we gained a new member, his name was Kobe. As soon as Kobe arrived on the scene things began to change. Up to that point our nominal leader was a guy named SBM which was short for Superior Black Male. He was a tech guy at Microsoft, we would find out later. I know his real name, but I won't post it here. Kobe and SBM grew close very quickly and were soon emailing and messaging each other regularly. Kobe began to prod SBM, and by extension the rest of us, toward turning our attention toward a man named Stephen Devoy. Devoy was also a computer guy who had just been fired from a company that did a lot of work with the NSA, Department of Defense, etc. It was all high security shit. Devoy was an anarchist hippie type, not exactly what you would call a patriotic American. Not to our standards anyway. And as we learned over time, Kobe was his former boss, the one who got him fired. Kobe wanted us to attack him.
Stephen Devoy at that time, had 3 websites dealing with his theories about what he called, "Rational Anarchy." We didn't care about any of that really. We were just there to call him a motherfucker. He had discussion forums on his sites, and that was where the initial attacks began. About this time SBM created an online clubhouse and gave us a name for our group. He called it simply KOBE and changed his regular nick to Kobe\_SBM. Many of the other guys added the KOBE prefix to their screen names at that time, though I never did. We all got accounts that were password protected that allowed us in. Inside we had our own forum, a quick message board for posting attack locations, things of that nature. There was also an image section called "Babes of Kobe." I don't think I need to tell you what got posted there. We each also had a profile page we could load up with facts about ourselves if we wanted to. I was poohammed, a play on Mohammed, a nickname I chose right from the beginning as the most offensive one I could think of at the time. It was pretty effective. Muslims were constantly threatening to kill me for insulting Islam. That's when we began our attack on Stephen Devoy. We bombed his forum with insults, porn, death threats, just generally disgusting behavior. It had always proved effective. Just be as offensive as possible. People would eventually get tired of it and leave. It always worked. But with Devoy, it all of the sudden seemed to become personal. Especially where SBM was concerned. The rest of us not so much. We never really had anything to do with Kobe. Kobe never told us anything. But he was obviously telling SBM things.
Kobe knew details about Stephen Devoy's personal life we could use against him. That was different. At the forums it was always people we knew nothing about. The attacks were very personal as I mentioned. I was uneasy about that. And as far as I was concerned I had nothing against the guy. I said that to the other guys on a few occasions. It didn't seem to make much difference. I wanted to go back to what we were originally doing and leave Devoy alone. Kobe wasn't the only source of info we had though. Kobe\_SBM was a techie at Microsoft. And he knew how to get info too. The kicker... Devoy also had some mad tech skills he could use to find out things about us. So on one level you had a flame war, and just beneath that, a hacker war. And that was Devoy's downfall. He thought he could beat us at the game. If he would have believed he was outclassed and couldn't win, he wouldn't have played. I'm sure of that. His playing along, turned out to be a half decade long nightmare he couldn't wake up from.
SBM kept a lot of things secret from us at that time. I asked him once what KOBE meant, since that was the new name of our group. He said it was a secret and he couldn't tell me. That was when I knew Kobe, whoever he was, had taken over. SBM might have thought he was still in charge, but Kobe was the one whispering in his ear. Over at the middle eastern forums it was fun. But with Devoy it was different, it felt dark to me, and we really were genuinely terrorizing that man. We were threatening him and his family with harm relentlessly. Eventually he went into hiding, thinking we could actually do what we said were going to do. Which unknown to him, were just empty threats. But he didn't know that. It got so bad, Devoy told us he was thinking about committing suicide.
I was shocked, that that's what we had done. It was never supposed to go that far, not in my mind anyway. Maybe that's what Kobe wanted, but I didn't. I walked away that night after sending Devoy a private email urging him to just ignore Kobe and to stop playing along. I told him that we couldn't do anything to him if he just ignored us. Devoy never listened. He had that, never say die attitude. He was never giving up. Can't let the bad people win... It continued on for about 4 more years until Devoy did finally give up. I followed it from afar for a long time, watching Devoy's paranoia, fear and suicidal thoughts increase under the crushing weight. And it eventually ended. But not before Stephen Devoy paid a heavy price. I don't know how many times he changed jobs, moved, I think he got divorced if my memory serves me correct. It was terrible. I shudder at the thought I was involved in that. Kobe the organization seemed to vaporize just about as quick as the Kobe/ Devoy war when it ended. To my knowledge it no longer exists. Though, if you told me it still did, as some CIA special project, it wouldn't surprise me. Kobe was the shadow behind SBM, and we know he was essentially a spook. Who knows who was behind Kobe. Incidentally, some of the material from that time still exists on the web. And Stephen Devoy is still alive as far as I know. Find him and he'll probably tell you all about it.
I wonder sometimes if we were the original Gangstalkers. The guys who made the mold. Somebody saw what we were doing, and realized it could be useful. They had us destroy a man utterly, proving that it did work. And the beast we unleashed went on from there. If I could give any victim who may chance to read this some advice... I'd give him the same advice I gave Stephen Devoy about 18 years ago. Just ignore it. It's the paranoia, the fear, and suicidal thoughts that will destroy you, your family, and your marriage. Be brave enough to let it slide. Laugh at it. And above all ignore it. Back when we were attacking news forums, we always gave up quickly when we figured it wasn't going to work. We moved on to some place else that we knew we could destroy. The whole key to it is this: We could only turn Devoy's environment to shit around him. We couldn't destroy Devoy. Only Devoy... could destroy Devoy. And he almost did it. Don't be Stephen Devoy.
