Why are 2.5 generics the same price as named pilots?

I know this has been discussed but I haven't found an answer yet.

From a game design standpoint, why would AMG make generic pilots the same price as named pilots? Is it simply lazy game design? If not, what's the logic behind it?

I know there are a few abilities that only work on non-limited pilots but those are pretty niche when you consider the sacrifice of flying generics.

Take the scum firespray for example, for 7 pts it has 1 generic that has 6 loadout pts, and 3 named pilots that have between 7-13 loadout pts, higher initiative, and unique pilot abilities.

Are the named pilots not objectively better? Wouldn't it make more sense if the generic pilot was 6 pts instead of 7?
