Undiscovered Country

After watching the Undiscovered Country, i thought of one thing. Why didn’t Chang just bomb the peace conference from orbit? He’s a hardliner who wants the cold war between the Feds and the Klingons to continue, and bombing the conference when Enterprise enters orbit would be the perfect false flag.

Here’s how it could happen: Enterprise enters Khitomer orbit, and Chang opens fire on the conference with a volley of torpedoes and quickly gets the hell out of dodge. Now Kirk and his crew have figured out who was behind the whole conspiracy, but that wouldn’t matter. As far as anyone else was concerned, they saw the Enterprise warp in at Khitomer, and the conference is nuked from orbit only a couple of minutes later.

That could be the straw that broke the camel’s back, and the next Federation-Klingon war is happening.
