Just started, have no idea what to do.

I'm very excited to get into the game, it looks like it has great potential but I simply don't know what to do next. Please try to avoid as many spoilers as possible, I am NOT looking for general tips or tricks, just a direction or goal to set for myself.

I already played the tutorial and started a new game. It's 11 days in now and I still just have my 3 settlers who won't romance each other. I built a farm, storage shed, and a house with a stove, research station, beds, and butcher table.

The crops are only like 34% grown. I tamed some horses but don't know what to do with them. I know there are other settlements in the area but they actually look pretty far on the map, and I am worried that if I travel there I would run out of food or die on the way. I have no idea how to prepare for such a journey.

I don't know what I should build next, or what my goals are. No clue how to expand. I am worried I will get attacked at some point and die, but I don't know how to prevent that besides building more barricades.

Again, I know this is a great game and I'm excited to get into it but I literally don't know what I'm supposed to be doing right now.
