Process Order question

I have a project I’m working on which requires strips of leather to be cut, dyed, sealed and then stiffened into shape.

I’m worried that the process for stiffening the shape (soaking then heating in the oven) will be detrimental to the dye and seal, but if I can avoid it, I’d rather not dye on the shape straps as they’re an awkward shape and I know they’ll drip.

And advice would be greatly appreciated as to how to go about this!
