Brother Watchtower in Guards! Guards!

I’m not sure if this was intentional misdirection or if I just read too much into it, but I remember being surprised when brother watchtower from the Elucidated Brethren of the Ebon Night didn’t end up being Nobby given Nobby’s love of grumbling, recreational dressing up and nocturnal habits. Furthermore, everyone else in the brotherhood seemed to be given a name based on their trade (brother fingers). Did anyone else think this?
